A Level Work

The pieces of work that I have submitted are projects that I have completed and some current projects that I am working on. I have included a print project from year 12, a garment project from year 12 and my current print project I am working on at the moment. I have also included some work from my A-level graphics journal.
I have included these samples of work because they show a variety of techniques and skills. I especially enjoy the process of printing, from the initial stages, experimenting with ideas, colours and design to the actual printing. I have enjoyed learning how to print using a silk screen and am looking forward to exploring new ways to extend my knowledge and experience of printing.
I have always enjoyed art and design although I only began studying textiles at A-level. However this quickly stimulated my interest in textiles generally and has made me more aware of pattern and design in many aspects of life.
Textiles in Practice appeals to me in many reasons. I am particularly looking forward to learning about new processes and techniques and how these might interact. The prospect of using new technology is very exciting. Although I am really looking forward to working in the areas of knit, embroidery and weave, the structure of the course means that I will have the opportunity to work towards my specialist area of printing. I am also looking forward to working with other people on projects as well as working with external partners.
I hope that I will have the opportunity to show you more of my work in person.

Below i have added some pictures of my print I designed and made in my second year of A-levels. My project was based on Africa. I wanted to make sure the print was full and exciting to look at therefore I designed an underpront to first go down, this consisted of a animal print. I then designed my print using all the research I had gathered. I used around 17 colours in this print. I am very happy with the overall result because I feel it gives a feel of what Afrcian culture is like.
